Myosin 2025 Retrospective

Three Years of Myosin. What We Built. What We Learned. What Comes Next.

As this year wraps up, I have been thinking a lot about Myosin. How far we have come. What we got right. What we got wrong. And what the last three years have actually taught me about DAOs, people, and building something that lasts.

When Simon came to me in early 2022 and said he wanted to launch a marketing DAO, it felt like the first truly new idea I had seen in years.

Not because DAOs were new, but because the potential inside that idea had not actually been realized by anyone.

Before Myosin, I had spent a decade building companies in New York. I was bored, jaded, tired of the Web 2 playbook. When I first encountered Bankless DAO, the concept felt electric.

A global community building together. Shared ownership. Shared upside. A new way to scale.

But when I tried to participate, the magic evaporated. No clarity. No structure. No point of entry. If someone like me could not figure out how to contribute, then something fundamental was broken. That moment stuck with me.

So when Simon suggested launching a marketing DAO, I saw the opportunity immediately. There was a real problem sitting in front of us, and a DAO had the potential to solve it if we built the foundation correctly.

This is the story of what we learned along the way.

The Problem We Set Out To Solve

We knew exactly what we were fighting.

The traditional agency model.

It does not matter if the agency is Web 2 or web3. The structure is the same.

A small group of owners extract as much value as possible from the people who produce the work. Employees get stretched thin. Freelancers get no equity and no real upside. When a major client leaves, half the team gets cut. When a new client arrives, the same cycle restarts.

The bigger the agency gets, the worse the incentives become.

So we asked a simple question: What if we rebuilt the entire model from scratch?

Instead of hierarchy and extraction, what if we gathered the best marketers in crypto into a global contributor network built on trust, flexibility, and shared ownership?

What if PR, Community, Growth, Content, Design, BD, and every discipline of marketing all lived under one coordinated umbrella?

What if people were rewarded for showing up, collaborating, and building something bigger than themselves?

Three years in, that thesis holds.

We have worked across some of the largest ecosystems in crypto. We have created more than SIX MILLION dollars of economic value!

We scale in ways traditional agencies physically cannot, because of their very inherent model/

We reward the people who make the system work. And we have proven that a contributor network can outperform legacy agencies at every level.

This is the part of the story most people ignore.

If a DAO does not solve a real problem and generate real revenue, then it is not a DAO. It is a tokenized book club, or a group chat with a shared group account. Fun, but not sustainable.

What DAOs Get Wrong and Why I Am Done Listening to Governance Maxis

Here is the part where I get honest. I am tired of hearing governance maxis lecture the world about what a real DAO is.

The idea that a DAO only counts if every person votes on everything is one of the most damaging myths in this space. We have watched DAO after DAO collapse under the weight of this fantasy, and many get reabsorbed into centralized structures, from ApeDAO to JupDAO, and many more.

Most people do not want to vote all day. Most people do not want to debate treasury distributions at midnight. Most people do not want to read twenty page governance proposals. And that is not a failure of the people.

It is a failure of the model.

Crypto loves the aesthetics of decentralization more than the actual work of coordination. It turns governance into a performance. Endless snapshot votes that no one reads. Onchain theatrics that change nothing. Rituals that make everyone feel decentralized but do not move the mission forward.

So let me say it clearly.

I do not care about the opinions of governance purists.

Fuck the purity tests.

If someone wants to tell me Myosin is not a real DAO because we do not force a hundred people to vote on every decision, they can save their breath.

Myosin is real because people show up, collaborate, & care.

Myosin is real because we built something that actually works.

And here is the truth no one wants to admit. The path to decentralization always starts with strong central leadership.

In the early days, the founders carry the entire system. When something breaks, we fix it. When the culture slips, we reset it. When coordination fails, we rebuild it.

For the first few years, my job was Myosin Janitor. I cleaned up anything that needed to be cleaned. I carried whatever had to be carried.

This is how decentralization begins. Not with a token. Not with a vote. But with unglamorous work that keeps the system alive long enough to evolve, and decentralize progressively.

True decentralization comes from reputation.

Who shows up without being asked? Who delivers without ego? Who builds for the mission instead of themselves?

These are the people who earn influence and responsibility. And just as importantly, a healthy DAO must identify who is not pulling their weight.

Pretending everyone contributes equally is a lie that kills communities. We have always reviewed performance. We reward those who push the mission forward. We call out the ones who disappear.

This is what real decentralization looks like. Not a stage show. A system that grows stronger because people inside it take ownership, and over time, earn trust, and move up and take on greater responsibility within the organization.

How We Structured Myosin To Actually Function

A DAO needs an operating system. Without structure, it falls apart.

Myosin’s structure today looks like this.

At the top is a small core operating team. My co-founder Simon, myself, our Head of Operations Victoria, our CFO Neel. A couple of near full time operators who handle the functions that cannot be decentralized to maintain an efficient organization. Finance, Production, Strategic Leadership.

The next layer is Guild Leads. These are the people who have put in the reps, proven themselves, and earned the trust to guide others. Business Development. Community. Content. Design. Growth. PR and Partnerships. AI. And many more.

Below that are Guilds and Contributors. A flexible, global network of operators who take on projects, collaborate, learn, and share value with the network.

And now we are building Synapse, the Myosin OS, and the first TRUE DAO OS.

A place where members can see their reputation, their earnings, their projects, their payments, their content pipeline, their progress, their contributions, their pathways to grow. Everything transparent. Everything centralized in one place, so participation becomes frictionless and ironically more decentralized.

This is not governance theater.

This is the infrastructure DAOs actually need if they want to survive. And we’re building it, step by step, brick by brick, three years later.

Where We Go From Here

Looking ahead, 2025 was a pivotal year for Myosin.

We onboarded more amazing members. We worked with incredible clients. And we sharpened our worldview. Not just about DAOs, but about how real networks grow, how value compounds, and how incentives actually align over time.

What started as a marketing DAO is now evolving into a fully-fledged Myosin ecosystem. One designed so that our $MYO can accrue real value, not speculative value.

Real utility, real participation, real outcomes. Crazy, right?

At the center of this evolution is a flywheel we have been quietly building for years.

The Myosin Flywheel

At the core of Myosin is the DAO itself. Intentionally capped at roughly 150 people. This is the group that delivers services. The best of the best. Members are continuously evaluated based on reputation, participation, output, and how they show up for others. This is not static membership. It evolves. People earn their place and keep earning it.

This DAO powers our agency work. Real clients. Real revenue. Real pressure.

Everything that work generates then feeds into Hivemind and the products we are building. The collective intelligence of our members, campaigns, experiments, failures, and wins becomes structured knowledge. That intelligence powers our AI, trained on lived experience.

At the same time, those products flow back to the members. They make our operators faster, sharper, and more effective. Better tooling leads to better output. Better output creates better data. Better data improves the AI.

The loop tightens.

Then there is Myosin Learns.

Myosin Learns is how we will onboard the future of marketing. A broader community learning from the same intelligence that powers our DAO. People inside Learns get trained on how modern marketing actually works, not how blogs say it works.

As they learn, the AI learns how people learn. That feedback improves both the tooling and the curriculum. From that pool, the best rise to the top.

Some join the DAO, some take on bounties to prove themselves, and some get placed into top crypto companies.

And when they do, they don’t leave the ecosystem. They stay connected. They bring Myosin with them. They bring our members in. They bring our tools in. They reinforce the network.

This is what real network effects look like.

And this is not something you can fork. It cannot be copied with a governance framework or a token launch. It only works if you start with real operators, trust, and incentives.

What This Is Really About

At the end of the day, none of this works without people.

Shared incentives & aligned incentives certainly matter, but so do relationship & wanting to win together.

That is what Myosin is about.

We built a place where talented people choose to show up. Where contribution is visible. Where effort is rewarded. Where ownership is earned. Where the work is hard, but the upside is shared.

The last three years were about proving the foundation.

The next three are about compounding it.

  1. DAOs only work when people work.

  2. Systems only scale when incentives align.

  3. Networks only last when trust is real.

Myosin works because all three are true.

And this is just the beginning.

So here’s to an incredible 2025, and an even more glorious 2026 ahead.

Onwards,

BMK
